Mondrian South Beach Miami 2015.
During Art Basel Miami 2015 the Mondrian South Beach Hotel organised a private party sponsored by Objekt©Magazine and Ruinart. Set on the stunning waterfront of Biscayne Bay, Mondrian South Beach captures all the heat, intensity, energy and vibe of the original Mondrian in Los Angeles. Revolutionary Dutch designer Marcel Wanders’ whimsical and visionary style for the hotel is an homage to “Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.” Somewhere in between, outside on the terrace you can find the pool. The first week of December 2015, this pool was filled with ping pong balls, and a large beamer was projecting on the curtains of the lunch area. It wasn't just graphics and sponsors, it was my film about the new OBJEKT© International book published by TeNeues.
Guess filming your dad is one of the hardest things to do, especially when his name Hans Fonk. He is a global famous photographer, publisher and art director and founder OBJEKT©International. OBJEKT©International is the authoritative and bespoke title for the upscale urban modernist with a passion for interiors, art & antiques, modern design and outstanding architecture. January 2015 we brought out OBJEKT©China and a few months later OBJEKT©International book.
I made this film to capture him and his work, mostly focused on the book. It isn't a biography. Thanks to Jan De Bouvries for letting us film at Het Arsenaal. The film had it's "premiere" at the OBJEKT©Asia X Jim Thompson party in Beijing in August 2015.
